Google Street View - start of driving in Bangalore!

Google has extended its street view application to India. From now onwards Google Street View will include images s from Bangalore and streel level images will be available on Google Maps.

Google Street View was launched in US during 2007 and was a instant hit offering street level images of cities. Now Streetview is available in 27 countries all over the world.

Google will be launching street view cars which will photograph images from the street. These images will be screened for privacy protection and will be hosted in the Google Maps. In addition to the street view cars, Google Trike, a three wheeler vehicle is also used for imaging.

In addition to the Street View cars, the Google Trike — a specially designed three-wheel pedi-cab with a camera system mounted on top — will start gathering images from select locations in and around Bangalore, such as the Nrityagram Dance Village over the next few weeks. The Trike has already collected imagery from dozens of famous places around the world, including Stonehenge in the UK, Colosseum in Rome or Legoland in California.
